It all started when...

... I saw the short film "Waves of Grace" on my Google cardboard display and had an epiphany that 360° short films could immerse me in the story in a way that I'd never be able to achieve with traditional 2D filmmaking.  I jumped into the world of 360 head first and began inhaling all the resources I could find with the enthusiasm of a 5yr-old on his first day of kindergarten.  After a lifetime of working in all forms of visual media, from 8mm stop motion animation to creating worlds in synthetic 3D universes, I finally feel like I've found a medium that challenges me by combining all of my interests.  I started this blog (my first one ever) in the first month of 2018 to kick off a year of experimentation with the hope that by 2019 I'll have a solid foundation in the challenging discipline of stereoscopic 360° filmmaking. This is brand-new stuff - we have so much to learn from each other and my hope is that sharing my discoveries along this journey will be helpful for the 360° community.

If you have an Oculus Go or GearVR you can watch all of my 3D 360° videos on my channel in the SamsungVR app… just search on “Gary Yost” and click the Channels button. I’m also on Veer.tv if you’re watching with google cardboard. (Always remember to download the content to your device for best quality.)
